Veterinarian
Dr. Beckhardt is originally from Maryland. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University in 2011 and completed her clinical year at the University of Florida. Dr. Beckhardt also has advanced degrees in business and finance. Special interests include companion animal internal medicine and alternative medicine therapies. She has worked predominantly at East Lake Animal Clinic since 2013. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and cheering on the Baltimore Ravens.
Aimie Handy
Practice Manager
Aimie Handy, hailing originally from Massachusetts and a Florida resident for over a decade, embarked on her journey in the veterinary field nine years ago as a bookkeeper at East Lake Animal Clinic. Over the years, she has steadily progressed, continually expanding her knowledge and skills. Climbing the professional ladder, Aimie assumed the role of Practice Manager and sought to familiarize herself with every aspect of the hospital to contribute wherever needed.
Her passion for animals is evident in her daily work, reflecting a deep-seated love for her furry patients. Married with two biological adult daughters, Aimie, along with her family, is actively involved in Foster Care, currently in the process of adopting four children, including their 8-year-old nephew. The family is completed by an adored 8-year-old granddaughter and a delightful array of fur babies. Among them are a 6-year-old terrier mix, a 5-year-old mini schnauzer, a 2-year-old pit bull mix, and a sweet 3-year-old bunny.
Aimie expresses her excitement at being a part of the exceptional team at East Lake, bringing her wealth of experience and genuine love for animals to the clinic.
Brandon Ellis
Veterinary Technician
Brandon Ellis, a Veterinary Technician at East Lake Animal Clinic, brings six years of dedicated experience to the practice.
He prides himself on fostering strong patient/client relationships, recognizing the importance of a healthy connection between caregiver and pet. Brandon is committed to treating each animal under his care as if they were his own, ensuring they receive the optimal experience.
Outside of the clinic, Brandon enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, engaging in activities like fishing and camping. His love for family, friends, and pets is evident as he values quality time with them. Additionally, Brandon finds pleasure in playing video games and following sports, with a particular interest in football and hockey.
Pierson Ellis
Assistant
Pierson Ellis, serving as an Assistant at East Lake Animal Clinic, has garnered 1 and a half years of experience in his role.
A graduate of Apopka High School, Pierson takes great pride in his commitment to veterinary medicine. He values the importance of keeping all patients happy and healthy throughout their time under the clinic’s care.
During his free time, Pierson enjoys watching football, indulging in video games, and staying active through workouts. His varied interests mirror his dedication to both professional and personal pursuits.

Leslie Batista, a dedicated Veterinary Technician at East Lake Animal Clinic, brings a wealth of experience, having practiced veterinary medicine for 17 years since 2007.
Leslie’s educational foundation was laid at Universidad Pedra Henriquez Urena (UNPHO) in the Caribbean. In her approach to veterinary medicine, she takes pride in embodying qualities of perseverance, responsibility, and commitment, ensuring the highest standard of care for her patients.
Outside of the clinic, Leslie values her free time by spending it with her family, reflecting her deep commitment to both personal and professional relationships.
Marisa Mattox
Receptionist
Marisa Mattox, working as the Receptionist at East Lake Animal Clinic, has accumulated 2 and a half years of experience in her role.
Currently enrolled at Valencia College, Marisa is actively pursuing her education to further enhance her skills in the veterinary field. In her approach to veterinary medicine, she takes pride in her ability to educate clients and foster a strong bond centered around the well-being of their pets.
During her free time, Marisa engages in various activities such as reading, playing video games, and drawing. Her commitment to family is evident, as she often lends a helping hand around the house and volunteers at her siblings’ school.

During his free time, Kaleb gravitates towards the outdoors, spending a significant portion of his leisure hours on the water or in the woods. His affinity for nature reflects his interests and activities beyond the clinic environment.
Malcolm Jones
Veterinary Technician
Malcolm Jones, a Veterinary Technician at East Lake Animal Clinic, boasts a wealth of 17 years of experience in the field.
Having received his education at Westside Tech, Malcolm places great value on fostering strong patient and client relationships. His dedication extends to educating clients about patient health, emphasizing a holistic approach to veterinary care.
Outside of the clinic, Malcolm finds joy in outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hunting. A sports enthusiast, he passionately follows football and basketball, supporting teams like FSU, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Orlando Magic. At home, Malcolm delights in spending quality time playing with his cherished pets.
Kaytlyn Carrol

Kaytlyn, serving as a Receptionist at East Lake Animal Clinic, brings three years of valuable experience to her role.
A graduate of Umatilla High School, Kaytlyn takes pride in her role as a welcoming presence for pet parents. She finds fulfillment in being a smiling face, reassuring them that their cherished furbabies are in excellent hands under her care.
In her free time, Kaytlyn enjoys immersing herself in the world of literature, playing video games, and spending quality moments with her dogs and cats at home. Her diverse interests reflect her commitment to both professional and personal pursuits.
